A 30-kg conical hat has been recognized as the biggest of its kind by the Vietnam Records Book Centre.
The 1.6m-tall hat with a diameter of 2.74m is made of more than 960 palm leaves layered together on a 52 section bamboo frame. It was made by an artisan from the central province of Thua Thien Hue, which is known as the birthplace of the traditional conical hat.
It took artisan Thai Do and his 10 assistants 40 days of hard work to complete the hat, which is currently on display in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1.
