What to Pack when travelling to Myanmar

Beside clothes, sunglasses and necessary things that you should notice while packing your luggage’s to Myanmar, we would like to make some useful reference for your trips as follow:

1.  For your camera:
– Always take some extra memory cards. You may find it difficult to buy a good memory card or authorized one in many regions.- Charger should be well-prepared. Except for Yangon, in other city, it is not easy to find one if your camera is out of batter. If you have camera that uses cell, it would be much easier.

2. For Laptops
Be sure that you have a good cover that prevent your laptop from vibration.Check your guide book about electricity of the place you will visit, some are not really convenient to fill the energy to your laptops.

3. Rain coat/ Umbrella
If you travel during rainy season, do not forget to take a rain coat with you. The rain may come very fast in Myanmar.

4. Good mosquito repellent
No matter which season you are traveling, mosquitoes are everywhere. Take a well-known repellent from your country.

5. Small Torch
Electricity cut off is very popular in some cities and countryside. Your torch should be small, self-charging.

6. Books
Personally, I find this is the best thing you should have for entertainment in Myanmar. Since the nightlife is not popular, this would enable you to spend time in this slow-pace lifestyle country.

Vietnam to promote Trang An Ecotourism complex on CNN

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will consider promoting the Trang An eco-tourism complex in the northern province of Ninh Binh on the well-known global TV network CNN in the coming time.

Minister Hoang Tuan Anh unveiled the plan at a reception in Hanoi on April for Shamila Gopalan, Account Director of the Cable News Network in Southeast Asia.
Anh appreciated CNN for having broadcast programmes introducing Vietnam’s cultural and tourism events to the wider world over the years, and hoped for further cooperation with the network in the near future.

Gopalan said CNN is willing to cooperate with the Vietnamese ministry in raising the country’s profile to the world.
Minister Anh invited CNN reporters to cover ceremonies to recognising Ha Long Bay as one of the seven new Natural Wonders of the World, scheduled for April 27 in Hanoi and May 1 in Ha Long City.

Located in Quang Ninh province, Ha Long Bay has been twice recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its natural beauty and geology.
Gopalan said CNN reporters will not be able to take part in the event as it is drawing near, but requested the Vietnamese side shoot and send clips to CNN for broadcasting.

Vietnam tourism eyes Japanese market

The Vietnam Administration of Tourism (VNAT) plans to establish a representative office in Japan to attract more tourists from this promising market.
VNAT has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on boosting tourism promotion with the aim of encouraging Japanese tourists to visit the S-shaped country.
In recent years, Japan has become a key market for Vietnam’s tourism sector. Nearly 500,000 Japanese tourists arrived in Vietnam in 2011, ranking third among the country’s largest tourism markets.
The Southeast Asian country expects to receive one million Japanese visitors in 2015 after the establishment of a VNAT representative office in Japan, which is among the activities marking the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations.

Vietnam to submit Dong Ho woodcuts to UNESCO

The culture ministry plans to compile a dossier of Dong Ho woodcuts to apply for recognition by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as a global cultural heritage.

The northern province of Bac Ninh where Dong Ho paintings originated, has been studying and documenting many pieces from Dong Ho in order to add this traditional form of painting to the country’s list of national cultural heritages.

Dong Ho woodcuts are special to Vietnam . They are printed by hand from wooden carvings and depict peaceful, happy and prosperous lives.

Dong Ho is on the southern side of the Duong river in Bac Ninh, 40km to the east of Hanoi and is one of the villages that preserves the ancient cultural relics from Kinh Bac, the Red River Delta in northern Vietnam.
