Spreading for 1,2km on Taung Thaman Lake, Ubein bridge is known as the longest teak wood bridge of its type in Myanmar.
The bridge is 10km far from Mandalay city and was built in XIX century along with the relocation of Myanmar Capital, the Inwa at that time.
The total number of posts are about 1000 but some are replaced by concreted ones, it still serves as the passage of local people.
Nowadays, Ubein is one of the most favourite attractions in Mandalay not only for its magnificent sunset view but also for the sacred pagoda by the lake side and the monastery in Inwa which hosts more than 1000 monks.
