DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1

Arrive Yangon (on a Monday or Friday). You are met at Yangon International Airport and transferred to the Savoy Hotel. The day is at leisure. In the evening visit Shwedagon Pagoda. Overnight in Yangon

Day 2

A whole day Yangon City tour. In the morning you visit China Town and the Sule Pagoda area where you can see a mixture of colonial and Burmese traditional architectural designs. Drive along Strand Road to Nanthidar Jetty to see the waterfront. Visit the Cathedral where there are various memorabilia of the British Regiments who fought in the 2nd World War. Later return to the Savoy Hotel. Overnight in Yangon

Day 3

An early morning transfer to Yangon Airport. Fly to Burma’s second city: Mandalay. On arrival in Mandalay transfer to the Sedona Hotel. Later visit the Crafts Quarter. Firstly to the gold-beating quarter where they beat a small quantity of gold to make very fine and thin gold leaf for gilding the Buddha images and stupas. Then the wood-carver quarter, tapestry making, brass moulding and marble-carvers’ Quarter. Return to the Sedona Hotel Overnight in Mandalay

Day 4

Today journey by boat to Mingun to see the unfinished Pagoda with the 90ton bell, then Myatheindan Stupa and the Art Gallery. In the afternoon you return to Mandalay via Sagaing where you visit Kaunghmudaw Pagoda and the silver-smith Village. Optionally climb Sagaing Hill to Ponyashin Pagoda on the summit from where you can see panoramic views of the Irrawaddy River, with glittering stupas on both banks. Late in the afternoon drive to Amarapura, visit a silk-loom famous for wavy patterns and see Ubein’s teak wood bridge. Then back to Mandalay and overnight.

Day 5

Drive to Pyin Oo Lwin (Maymyo) and on to Peikchinmyaung, a mile-long cave filled with stalactites and images of Lord Buddha. On the way back you can see Parcells Clock Tower built in memory of Queen Victoria’s 90th birthday, the Candacraig British Bachelors club, the Chinese temple and the Botanical Garden filled with many species of plants beside Royal Lake dug by Turkish prisoners during 1st. World War. In the evening drive back to Mandalay. Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 6

An early morning boat ride along the Irrawaddy River to Bagan. You arrive Bagan in the late afternoon and transfer to
Thiripyitsayar Hotel. Enjoy the sunset view from Shwesandaw Pagoda. Overnight in Bagan

Day 7

Morning sightseeing of the Shwezigon temple complex: the Kyansitthar Umin, the Htilominlo Temple, famous for its plaster carvings and frescos on the interior walls, the Ananda Temple the most proportioned and finest temple, Thatbyinyu the tallest, Dhamayangyi the biggest in mass and the Sulamani Temple which the British used as a smallpox Hospital. Evening visit Gawdawpalin, the Throne of Obeisance, the oldest Buphaya (Guard Shape) though not very high but built on the bank of the river you should see an excellent sunset from there. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 8

Today you continue your discovery of Bagan with a visit to the Myingabar quarter, Myingabar Gubyaukgyi (Big Spotted Cave) filled with fine frescos, Nan Phaya or Palace Pagoda with fine sandstone carving, Apeyadana Temple ( Jewel of Hell) with very fine frescos and Lawkananda (hair relic) Pagoda. Visit a lacquer-ware cottage workshop. After lunch visit Dhamayazika Pagoda and the Minnanthu ruins, Phaya Thone Zu with very fresh and fine frescos and finally to Tayoke Pyay to view the sunset from a height.

Day 9

Drive to Mt. Popa an extinct Mud Volcano. On the way stop at a toddy palm groove to see the lives of toddy climbers and the process of making jaggery from sap. Climb the spur of Mt. Popa where they have shrines and pagodas on top Afternoon drive back to Bagan More sightseeing in Bagan
Overnight in Bagan.

Day 10

Today you transfer to Bagan Airport and fly to Heho. On arrival drive to Nyaungshwe, then by boat to Shwe Inn Tha Mid Stream Resort Hotel .Overnight on the Lake

Day 11

Today by boat on the lake you visit the market place, the Innpawkonthe Silk Village to visit a silk loom, the black smith place, the cheroot rolling factory, and the PhaungdawOo mid-stream pagoda, one of the principal shrines of Burma, which, unusually, has a market underneath. Evening sunset view on the lake from the boat. Overnight on the Lake

Day 12

Another day by boat on the lake with a trip to Inndein to see the many ruined stupas and pagodas, and the Shan traditional long-neck ladies In the evening visit the Jumping Cats Monastery and on the way visit the Floating Gardens

Day 13

Transfer to Heho airport and fly back to Yangon and the Savoy Hotel. The day is at leisure. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 14

Today you drive 50 miles to visit Bago. On the way there is a stop-over at a pottery to see the life of potters and how they make pots. At Bago, you visit Shwe Maw Daw, the tallest pagoda built by Mon ethnics and the Kanbawza Thardi Mon Palace. On the way back from Bago, you can, if you wish, stop at the Taukkyant War Grave Cemetery. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 15

Morning Shopping at Bogyoke Market. Afternoon transfer to Yangon International Airport for final departure

Essential Notes

Passports and Visas

The first thing goes first. You definitely must obtain valid VISA in order to travel into any country and so is Myanmar (Burma). Unless your country is in VISA exemption list, it is your responsibility to get valid VISA before arrival. There are two ways to get Myanmar VISA:

• Go to Myanmar Embassies and Consulates in your home country and you will be guided procedure. You may want to check the list of countries where Myanmar has embassies and consulate offices by clicking here.
• Obtain VISA On Arrival (VOA). For tourists coming from countries has no Myanmar Diplomatic Rep offices, you can obtain VOA online via www.myanmarevisa.gov.mm – the official portal for VOA by Myanmar government. The portal launched in Sep 01, 2014 and took its pilot operation for a month. Providing you encounter any issue, please contact us for support.

Climate & Clothing

Generally speaking, Myanmar is a tropical country with rather hot weather. Sometimes in year or in some Northern places, temperature cools down but not that can be called cold. Roughly saying that the best time to travel Myanmar is from Oct to March due to dry and cool season. Other months, however, you may get very nice deals of promotion.For clothing: comfortable clothes, absolutely. We suggest you should take at least one long pan, a long skirt and a sleeve top because we will visit some religious site and many of them require proper code of dress.All of temples and pagodas require you enter with bare feet. A pair of sandals is highly recommended.

Cell Phones & Calling Cards

You may wish to carry a cell phone while traveling. Check with your cell phone provider if your phone will work in the destination(s) you are visiting. Myanmar service is dominated by the GMS technology standard, while some of the world such as U.S uses the incompatible CDMA standard. We suggest that you should check carefully or you may incur high international roaming fees.We said previously “the SIM card in Myanmar is not very popular and still quite expensive”. But now, forget it! SIM cards in Myanmar now are cheap and easy to buy in any main city as cheap as about US$ 02 each. Cell phones, even smart phones are available on sales widely.

Making Telephone Calls from One Country to Another

When dialing a number from one country to another, you should proceed as follows: dial your country’s Exit Code + destination Country Code + Phone Number. Country Code of Myanmar is 95.

Wireless Internet Access

Passengers traveling with WiFi enabled devices (such as a personal computer, smartphone, tablet, or digital audio player) may be able to connect to the internet via a wireless network access point (or hotspot). Wifi is now popular in most hotels from three stars up. Most of them are supplying Free Wifi but some may incur extra charges. We suggest you should ask the receptionist before.

Cards and Currency

Myanmar’s national currency, the KYAT (pronounced chat, abbreviated in MMK) is divided into the following banknotes: K1, K5, K10, K20, K50, K100, K200, K500 and K1000.We once said “ATMs are still very hard to come” but from my latest inspection of Myanmar, the country now starts using ATMs. Most three stars hotels up often have at least one AMT machine right at their lobbies. Main hotels now accepts credit cards payment.Anyway, we suggest you should bring with some cashes just in case. Local buying there accept Burmese and US dollars widely. However please pay at attention when bring US notes with you:

• The US$ notes must be new.
• The US$ notes torn, marked, folded will not be accepted.
• The US$ notes having series before 2003 backward may not accepted.

You are allowed to bring up to US$ 5000 in cash per person to enter Myanmar.

Trip Preparation

A little pre-planning can make your trip go a lot smoother. We suggest you should taking a checklist below:

• Several weeks before your trip, make a list of what you will need to take with you.
• Make sure your personal documents (passports, visas, driver’s license) are in order.
• We suggest that you make photocopies of passports, visas, personal ID and any other important travel documents and pack them separately from the originals. If you lose the originals while traveling, you’ll have copies for easier reporting and replacement.
• You may consider bringing a small supply of over the counter medications for headaches and/or anti-diarrhea pills. Pack a list of medications including dosage and generic names.
• We recommend that you pack a portable alarm clock.
• Avoid placing valuables such as cameras in your checked luggage.
