DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1 Yangon arrival

On arrival at the Yangon airport, you will be welcomed by our Burma Tour Asia’s  tour guide and transfer to your hotel for check in and a chance to freshen up and relax.

Depending on your arrival time, we recommend having lunch at Monsoon restaurant for delicious, freshly prepared Myanmar cuisine.

You will visit the colonial city center, with its many cultural delights. Travel past faded colonial buildings, busy street markets, and glittering temples. End your tour at the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda the most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar. Although the origins of the pagoda are unclear, the local legend states that the original structure was built 2500 years ago then renovated several times until taking its current shape in the 15th century. The 8-sided central stupa is 99 meters tall and gilded with gold leaf and is surrounded by 64 smaller stupas. You guide will lead you around to gain more information about the pagoda as well as the Burmese culture.  Enjoy breathtaking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point.

Enjoy a welcome dinner with a traditional Dancing Show at Karaweik Palace restaurant.

Day 2 Yangon – Heho – Inle Lake by flight

This morning, transfer to Yangon Airport for your flight to Heho.  Here you will enjoy a one-hour scenic drive to Nyaung Shwe, the gateway village to the lovely Inle Lake.

A private local motorboat will escort you to your luxurious hotel for check in.  Along the way, pass stilted villages, the  one leg-rowing Intha fishermen, and floating gardens anchored to the lake’s bottom with bamboo poles.

Check in to your hotel, a resort nestled near the lake’s shores. Your stilted bungalow offers spectacular views from the balconies.

After freshening up, a private boat will take you out on the lake to visit and discover the local traditional work such as making boat, black smith, silk weaving and enjoy the uniqueness of Jumping Cat pagoda.

If time permits, we will stop for a coffee break (your own’ account)  at Inthar Heritage House. Not only are the cakes and coffees delicious, but the house also has a superb display of information about traditional Inthar culture and history.

Return to your hotel in time for sunset. This evening enjoy a traditional Shan Style dinner at hotel, served on lacquer plates.

Day 3 Inle lake – boat trip to Indein

Option: should you wish to wake up early, we will visit the lake’s morning market on our way to Indein. The market rotates location on a 5-day basis and is a colourful spectacle with vendors gathering from the villages around the lake to buy and sell their wares.

This morning, enjoy a relaxing boat trip along a small canal to the Pa-oh village of Indein.  Explore the area on foot, strolling around the village, visiting a local school, and wander through the beautiful Alaung Sitthou area.  Alaung Sitthou is filled with picturesque ancient stupas and has magnificent views of the lake below.

Lunch today is a highlight of many people’s visit to Inle Lake. We’ll stop at a village for a private lunch at an Intha house. Enjoy traditional Inthar dishes as you sit on cushions around a low table, a unique chance to learn about and experience Inthar culture firsthand.

Return by boat to the hotel for a relaxing afternoon at your resort.

Day 4  Inle – Nyaung Shwe – Bagan by a short flight

Enjoy your breakfast at resort, check out of your hotel and transfer by boat back to the town of Nyaung Shwe. We’ll visit the local monasteries and nunneries as well as the colourful morning market where dozens of stalls are set up selling flowers, products and other goods.

Enjoy lunch at Viewpoint Restaurant, widely regarded as the best Shan food in Myanmar.

Then take a 40 minutes by car again back to  Heho Airport  for a short  flight to Bagan. Upon arrival, meet our tour guide and driver and transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Day 5  Bagan Tour

Starting to discover this temples land by a visit to the Nyaung U Market where dozens of vendors come to sell their fresh produce and products.  The market is at its busiest early in the morning as the locals come to do their shopping. This is a great opportunity to observe the daily lifestyle of the friendly locals. Then continue to the glittering Shwezigon Pagoda that is not really far away from the market, a prototype of later Myanmar stupas.

Next to Wetkyi-In Gubyaukgyi, a cave temple with exquisite jatakas mural paintings.  Continue to the elegant Htilominlo Temple, noted for its fine plaster carvings and glazed sandstone decorations.

Take a break midday to escape the heat and enjoy lunch at your leisure.

This afternoon visit the New Bagan area and one of its many lacquer-ware workshops.  Observing the whole procedure traditional technique of making these handcrafted products . The process takes incredible skill and patience and Bagan’s craftsmen are well renowned for their fantastic lacquer products.

In the afternoon, get on a boat trip along the Irrawaddy river. Enjoy a cocktail and a stunning view of Bagan while cruising.

The remainder of this evening is at your leisure.

Day 6 Bagan – Yangon by a flight

Today, we keep going on sightseeing at Ananda temple, an architectural masterpiece of the early-style temple.  Nearby, Ananda Okkyaung is one of the few surviving brick monasteries from the early Bagan period.

and take a horse carriage to travel among the temples starting at Ananda and passing dozens of monuments. Stop as you wish to take photos or explore hidden temples. The slower pace of the horse cart is a relaxing way to see the wonders of Bagan from a different perspective.

After lunch at your leisure, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Yangon. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.

Day 7  Yangon departure

This morning head to Bogyoke Market, also referred to as Scott Market, for its colonial architecture and inner cobblestone streets. Browse the aisles of handmade goods, looking for the perfect souvenir of your Myanmar holiday. (note: Closed on Mondays and public holidays)

The remainder of today is at your leisure for additional sight seeing or shopping before transferring to the airport for your onward flight.

Essential Notes

Passports and Visas

The first thing goes first. You definitely must obtain valid VISA in order to travel into any country and so is Myanmar (Burma). Unless your country is in VISA exemption list, it is your responsibility to get valid VISA before arrival. There are two ways to get Myanmar VISA:

• Go to Myanmar Embassies and Consulates in your home country and you will be guided procedure. You may want to check the list of countries where Myanmar has embassies and consulate offices by clicking here.
• Obtain VISA On Arrival (VOA). For tourists coming from countries has no Myanmar Diplomatic Rep offices, you can obtain VOA online via www.myanmarevisa.gov.mm – the official portal for VOA by Myanmar government. The portal launched in Sep 01, 2014 and took its pilot operation for a month. Providing you encounter any issue, please contact us for support.

Climate & Clothing

Generally speaking, Myanmar is a tropical country with rather hot weather. Sometimes in year or in some Northern places, temperature cools down but not that can be called cold. Roughly saying that the best time to travel Myanmar is from Oct to March due to dry and cool season. Other months, however, you may get very nice deals of promotion.For clothing: comfortable clothes, absolutely. We suggest you should take at least one long pan, a long skirt and a sleeve top because we will visit some religious site and many of them require proper code of dress.All of temples and pagodas require you enter with bare feet. A pair of sandals is highly recommended.

Cell Phones & Calling Cards

You may wish to carry a cell phone while traveling. Check with your cell phone provider if your phone will work in the destination(s) you are visiting. Myanmar service is dominated by the GMS technology standard, while some of the world such as U.S uses the incompatible CDMA standard. We suggest that you should check carefully or you may incur high international roaming fees.We said previously “the SIM card in Myanmar is not very popular and still quite expensive”. But now, forget it! SIM cards in Myanmar now are cheap and easy to buy in any main city as cheap as about US$ 02 each. Cell phones, even smart phones are available on sales widely.

Making Telephone Calls from One Country to Another

When dialing a number from one country to another, you should proceed as follows: dial your country’s Exit Code + destination Country Code + Phone Number. Country Code of Myanmar is 95.

Wireless Internet Access

Passengers traveling with WiFi enabled devices (such as a personal computer, smartphone, tablet, or digital audio player) may be able to connect to the internet via a wireless network access point (or hotspot). Wifi is now popular in most hotels from three stars up. Most of them are supplying Free Wifi but some may incur extra charges. We suggest you should ask the receptionist before.

Cards and Currency

Myanmar’s national currency, the KYAT (pronounced chat, abbreviated in MMK) is divided into the following banknotes: K1, K5, K10, K20, K50, K100, K200, K500 and K1000.We once said “ATMs are still very hard to come” but from my latest inspection of Myanmar, the country now starts using ATMs. Most three stars hotels up often have at least one AMT machine right at their lobbies. Main hotels now accepts credit cards payment.Anyway, we suggest you should bring with some cashes just in case. Local buying there accept Burmese and US dollars widely. However please pay at attention when bring US notes with you:

• The US$ notes must be new.
• The US$ notes torn, marked, folded will not be accepted.
• The US$ notes having series before 2003 backward may not accepted.

You are allowed to bring up to US$ 5000 in cash per person to enter Myanmar.

Trip Preparation

A little pre-planning can make your trip go a lot smoother. We suggest you should taking a checklist below:

• Several weeks before your trip, make a list of what you will need to take with you.
• Make sure your personal documents (passports, visas, driver’s license) are in order.
• We suggest that you make photocopies of passports, visas, personal ID and any other important travel documents and pack them separately from the originals. If you lose the originals while traveling, you’ll have copies for easier reporting and replacement.
• You may consider bringing a small supply of over the counter medications for headaches and/or anti-diarrhea pills. Pack a list of medications including dosage and generic names.
• We recommend that you pack a portable alarm clock.
• Avoid placing valuables such as cameras in your checked luggage.
