Pyin Oo lwin or May Myo is the best hill station for Mandalay citizen to escape in dry season. This mountainous town, once appeared the resorts and houses of British who settled in north Myanmar offers mild weather, lush plantations and many natural wonders.
Originally, this town of May Myo was a small village and renamed in 1887 by Colonel May. In 1896, May Myo became the hill station functioning the ideal summer capital of British Burma. Every year, May Myo received the whole British establishment in Burma, hence mansions, houses with gardens, botanic garden were formed to served this political force.
The weave of South Asian immigration to this area happened during the colonial era and nowadays, there are more than 5000 Nepalese and 10 000 Indians living in May Myo.
