This November, Hollywood star, actress Angelina Jolie came to Cambodia to film her latest project, with shots will be carried out in Angkor Wat and other little-known tourist sites.

As a film version of writer Loung Ung’s memoir, “First They Killed My Father”, the project reportedly will feature Jolie’s adopted Khmer son – Maddox in a significant role.

Much of the filming will take place in Siem Riep Province, where the famous Angkor Wat temple is located. Some scenes will be recorded in the ancient temple ruins, while others will shot in rice paddies and riverside in the neighbored areas.

According to the Cambodian Film Commission, the production will carry out quickly. The first scenes were filmed in early November, and the plan is expected to end in late January 2016. Battambang, Cambodia’s second largest city behind Phnom Penh, will be used for 10% of the movie.

This story, about a family’s experience under cruel Khmer Rouge regime, will comprise very tragic events. However, it will be also a chance for people to see idyllic countryside around Siem Riep. When “First They Killed My Father” is completed, local authority hopes that tourism trade in the city will prosper.
